WIGANERS will have access to the most up to date mobile internet technology within months.

The borough has been chosen among 27 towns across the country to have 4G connection by June, expanding the superfast coverage to 65 UK towns and cities.

The 4G rollout, supplied by digital communication company EE, provides customers with internet speeds five times faster than the current 3G connections widely available.

EE chief executive, Olaf Swantee, said: “Our business customers want a 4G network that covers the markets in which they operate and that is exactly what we are building for them - and at a phenomenal rate.

“We’re set to cover more than half of the UK population by the summer, staying ahead of the schedule that we set for ourselves at launch and continuing the amazing value of 4G mobile to many organisations with different challenges and different needs.”
