AN air ambulance was called to a field in Standish this afternoon following reports a man had fallen from a horse.

The accident happened on a patch of land just off Preston Road, which connects Standish and Chorley, before emergency services were called.

A spokesperson for the North West Air ambulance confirmed their attendance but said the man’s injuries were not as serious as first feared and their services were not needed in taking him to hospital. He received aid at the scene before being taken to Wigan Infirmary by ambulance where he was treated for minor injuries.
