Armed robbery at KFC

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after knife-wielding robbers jumped over the counter and made away with a quantity of cash at a popular fast food restaurant.

The two men burst into the KFC on Ormskirk Road in Pemberton just before 10pm last night.

After leaping over the till, they went to the back of the building and took money from the safe and till before running away.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester police said: “We were called to the KFC on Ormskirk Road at 9.55pm.

“Two offenders had gone in and jumped over the counter where staff were.

“They demanded money before taking a quantity of cash and jumping back over the counter before running from the store, turning right and going towards Orrell.

“One of the offenders had an 8ins hunting knife with a serrated edge. Both were wearing ski masks with holes over their eyes and dark clothing,

“One was 5ft 7ins to 5ft 10 ins and the other was 5 ft 5ins ; both spoke with local accents.”

On the GMP Wigan West Facebook page, officers added that both offenders were in their late teens and one wore a black long sleeved jacket, grey Adidas tracksuit bottoms, black gloves while the one carrying the knife wore a dark top, dark pants, dark jacket and orange and yellow workman like gloves,
