Arrest made in Elvis assault investigation

POLICE investigating an assault on a man who was dressed as Elvis have made an arrest.

A 19 year-old man handed himself into police and is now being interviewed on suspicion of assault.

The 33-year-old victim was attacked outside Rainbow Taxis on Wigan Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield, at about 5.45am on Sunday, November 16.

The victim had been enjoying a night out with his friends celebrating his stag do and was waiting for a taxi when he was approached by the offender, who initially asked him for a cigarette.

Without provocation, the offender then punched the man in the face, knocking him unconscious. The assailant then apologised and when the man came to, he got a taxi to Wigan Hospital where he underwent surgery for three breaks to his jaw.
