Applications to establish a drinking venue and a snack bar on Market Street in Hindley have been submitted to the town hall and could be decided next month.

Property number 105, a former butcher’s shop, could be transformed into a ‘drinking establishment’, creating four part-time and two full-time equivalent roles.

It would include a ground floor bar area with toilet facilities on the first floor, according to planning documents.

The applicant is listed as Mr Kai Binder, who last year gained permission to convert neighbouring property 107 into a bar, which now trades as Kore, an independent wine and cocktail bar.

Mr Binder is also manager of the nearby Summat To Ate steak restaurant, also on Market Street.

The second application relates to 75 Market Street. If approved, the former hairdressers will be converted into a ‘dessert and snack bar’ with opening times from 9am to 11pm throughout the week.

Documents submitted in support of the application reveal the unit will provide a dining area on the ground floor of the premises. It would create three full-time and four part-time roles, applicant Paula Correia has stated.

Council planning officers have set decision target dates in October for both change of use applications.
