A MAN was attacked with a baseball bat just as he was about to leave home for work.
At around 8.20am on Tuesday, the 24-year-old man was in the hallway of the house on Datkins Road, Leigh, when two masked men burst in.
One of them had a baseball bat and started to hit the man with it, striking his legs shins, arms and body.
Both men then ran out and left, without making any demands. The attack took place in front of the man’s 27-year-old girlfriend and young son.
The pair left in a green MG which headed in the direction of Warrington Road. They were both white, in their 20s, of slim build and about 5ft 6in tall.
Detective Constable David Fairhurst said: “This was a violent attack on a young man who was about to leave for work, and we are carrying out a full investigation to find out who was responsible.
“I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information to call us.”
