SCAMMERS claiming to be collecting for a diabetes charity are targeting vulnerable residents in Wigan.
Police have had reports of bogus officials going door to door in Billinge Road, Newtown.
A man was seen knocking on doors, at around 7.30pm on November 2, trying to collect money for diabetes, requesting a donation of £3. He said he would only take the donation by card and persistently requested bank card details.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “Please do not give bank card details out to companies that approach you.
“Do not open your door to people you do not know/do not feel comfortable with. If you see any suspicious people going door to door please call 101.”
