A WIGAN group which improves one of the borough’s best loved tourist spots has been short-listed for potential funding.
Friends of Haigh Country Park has made the cut for The Skipton Building Society’s Grassroots Giving Campaign and is urging people to vote for them to be awarded the £500 grant.
The community group, which is run by 170 volunteers, provides fun facilities at Haigh Hall Country Park and has been involved with revamping the crazy golf course.
John Hulme, chairman, said: “The crazy golf at Haigh used to be a wonderful family attraction and it is something we would like to improve as we would all love to see it back in full flow at Haigh.
“We now encourage other groups to apply for funding to help their causes and to vote for us to receive the grant.”
The closing date is July 31 and groups can apply via www.skiptonbig160.co.uk
From August, the public will then vote for the short-listed community groups, to decide which 160 receive £500 funding from Skipton Building Society.
More information about applying for funding can be found at www.skiptonbig160.co.uk/free-resources/
The building society launched its Grassroots Giving programme as part of its 160th anniversary, offering £500 to 160 groups.
