TENS of thousands of people have paid tribute to an inspirational tot who lost her battle with cancer.

Social media networks have been inundated with poignant messages for the heartbroken family of three-year-old Millie-Rose Heaton who died on Wednesday evening.

The brave Skelmersdale youngster had been fighting neuroblastoma for more than a year.

But doctors recently told the family the devastating news that the cancer had spread.

Hundreds of people including many Wiganers raised more than £200,000 towards sending Millie to Germany for treatment.

But a message posted on her Facebook page confirming she had died, read:

“Millie-Rose gained her angel wings at 7.15 this evening surrounded by the people that loved her most.

“Our hearts are broken. The infection became too much for her little body but she fought so hard.

“She fought everything with a big smile on her face and she has taught so many people a lot of life lessons.

“Love you Millie-Rose you can now rest baby girl.”
