WIGAN Beer Company is joining forces with Guide Dogs for the Blind to help train a puppy.

The firm, which sells soft drinks, beer, wine and spirits, is offering a Christmas raffle for licenced premises.

Raffle books will be priced at £25 for the winner to receive a delivery of £1,200 of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks, which will also help the winning pub.

Wigan Beer Company, based in Miry Lane, is also donating 50p per case of Budweiser sold this year to Guide Dogs for the Blind until it reaches its target of £5,000.

Adam Jones, director, said: “Once we have raised the funds we hope to name the guide dog puppy Buddy, based on the fact that the money was raised in part due to Budweiser sales. However we also welcome suggestions from the public if they can think of anything better.

“We feel that it is a very worthy cause as many of our customers regulars around the local area are affected in some way by visual impairment and we really want to raise awareness of this as well as helping the winning licensed establishment.

“We want to extend the offer of tickets to all licenced premises in the area and not just those that we trade with.”

The draw will take place on December 12 and tickets are available now.
