A POPULAR Wigan pub was forced to close its doors for two days because of a pest control issue.

The Brocket Arms on Mesnes Road was shut on Friday and Saturday while experts moved in.

We apologise to our customers for the pub being closed, however, it was important that the pest issue was dealt with in a professional manner by our contractors

What the pest problem was no-one is saying. Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “The pub was closed as a result of a pest control issue which has been dealt with and the pub has since reopened.

“We apologise to our customers for the pub being closed, however, it was important that the pest issue was dealt with in a professional manner by our contractors.”

Wigan Council business compliance manager Julie Searing said: “Wetherspoons contacted us this morning to advise us of an issue that they detected at their Brocket Arms premise over the weekend.

“They advised us they had implemented control measures and we are liaising with them to see if any further action is required.”
