Bulldozers move into begin fire station demolition

One of Wigan's best know landmarks - the fire station at the Saddle Junction has almost disappeared as bulldozers begin work to make way for the new 999 hub.

The new scheme once completed on the same site will house both the new fire station and the ambulance depot which is currently on Pottery Road.

The new hub is expected to be finished next year but will still be the base for fire crews while work is under way.
