A MAN was left terrified after being threatened by a burglar in his own home.
Police say an intruder entered a house in Water Drive, Standish, shortly after 1.15am on Friday
The 47-year-old victim was awoken by a loud bang and his burgler alarm sounding. He went downstairs to investigate and was confronted by a man.
The offender shouted aggressively and made threats towards the victim, and told him he would shoot if he did not go back upstairs.
He then walked towards the kitchen and left the property.
The home owner discovered a short time later that his red Mini Cooper – registration number MK57 ZRL – had been stolen from the front of his house.
The offender is described as white, 6ft tall, of muscular build, and aged between 25 and 45 years. He had a local accent and was wearing a dark hooded top and tracksuit bottoms.
DC Linda Howcroft, from Wigan CID, said: “The victim is very shaken. He was awoken in the middle of the night, faced with a stranger who made violent threats towards him. If you have any information, or if you have seen the car, please contact me.”
