A CONSTRUCTION firm has proved itself a class act after securing a contract to build a new £2m teaching block at a leading sixth form college.

Construction Partnership UK (CPUK) will build a three-storey teaching block at the acclaimed Loreto College in the Hulme area of south Manchester.

The Skelmersdale-based company will construct the new block, which includes an impressive new entrance and reception on the college’s Chichester Road campus as well as classrooms and amenities areas for both students and staff.

Work is set to start by the end of this month and the brick building is expected to be finished by July 2014.

CPUK managing director Steve Burke said: “The contract with Loreto College will see us creating a modern, stylish education block that will greatly enhance the existing facilities that exist on campus.

“The focus will be to carry out this work with the minimum of disruption to students and staff studying and working in the existing buildings.

“The new amenities the building will create for the college will be open for students arriving to study at the start of the academic year in 2014.”

The contract is the latest in a string of appointments in recent months which has seen CPUK’s order book for the next 12 months grow to more than £25m.

The company, which was founded in 2000 and is based on the White Moss Business Park in Skelmersdale, is currently working in several sectors including retail, health and house building.
