A GROWING high-tech firm has found a new home in Wigan borough.
Creative and digital design agency Shape is the latest company to make Gibfield Enterprise Centre in Atherton its base after relocating from Manchester.
Headed by childhood friends Andy Golpys and Jason Mayo, who founded Shape on the back of 14 years’ experience in the industry, it has experienced a period of rapid growth over the past 12 months.
This has led to them bringing in new personnel to support an ever-increasing portfolio of blue-chip clients.
Andy from Atherton, said: “From starting with practically no clients three years ago to where we are now, we quickly found ourselves outgrowing our old home in Manchester.
“It wasn’t the ideal space for a creative company – it didn’t feel like a design studio.
“It was half office, half exhibition space, so people were just walking in off the street, straight through our workspace.
“It was a nightmare for noise and traffic and there was no parking.
“Coming to Atherton and the Enterprise Centre made perfect sense: the position on the map is perfect for us commuting from home and we got a new, well-equipped studio that we could really make our own.”
The team of four designers and digital developers boasts an impressive client base.
The company has worked with prestige department stores including Selfridges and Co and Harvey Nichols, mobile technology giants BlackBerry, as well as a number of local and regional brands.
Shape were welcomed to Atherton by John Burns, Enterprise and Estates Manager for Wigan Metropolitan Development Company.
And Andy believes the decision to relocate was based a lot on those early meetings.
He added: “John was great. He was extremely welcoming and we got a good vibe about him and the place straight away.
“I’m very keen on building up good working relationships with people and that’s been very easy with John and his team – it makes business easier.”
John said: “We’re delighted to have Shape join us at Gibfield Investment Centre. They’re a young, vibrant agency with some fantastic projects and clients.
“Attracting companies like Shape show the real benefits Atherton can provide to established and growing businesses alike.”
