AN ECO jobs roadshow is coming to Wigan Borough next month to try and create employment and help the environment.
The One Million Climate Jobs Caravan is part of a national drive to promote the creation of climate jobs, which UNITE say can help solve both the economic and climate crisis.
Stephen Hall, Chair of Leigh UNITE the Union Branch, and the Greater Manchester Association of Trades Union Councils, who are sponsoring the Wigan visit of the Jobs tour said: “The one million climate jobs Caravan is calling for the creation nationally of up to 5,000 new jobs in the Wigan area, and is the type of investment we need right now to tackle the economic and social decline our area is facing.
“It will also save us huge amounts of money in the long run, including in the payment of unemployment and other benefits.”
The One Million Climate Jobs Caravan will be visiting both Leigh and Wigan town centres on Tuesday, May 22.
