WINSTON’S Wish has appointed a new team leader to front its fund-raising.
Kathryn Leverett, right, has extensive experience in the role including 10 years at Arthritis Research UK. Prior to that, she also worked at Anthony Nolan, the British Red Cross and ChildLine.
Kathryn will actively support the growth of the charity’s income as Winston’s Wish expands its reach into more communities. She said: “I am always inspired and amazed at the efforts of fund-raising supporters within the community and I am privileged to be working for Winston’s Wish. With a strong and ambitious team on board, our challenge is to reach into many more communities across the borough, increasing vital funds and awareness, so that more bereaved children and families can be supported.”
Winston’s Wish is the leading childhood bereavement charity in the UK.
Each year, the charity supports over 30,000 bereaved children and young people through an array of dedicated services. These programmes include support following death as a result of accident, illness, murder, manslaughter, suicide and also through military service.
The charity depends almost entirely on voluntary donations for its income. The expansion of the community fund-raising team will play a vital role in raising the £2.4 million required each year to fund the work.
Kathryn added: “Our sincere thanks go to all those who support us with school fund-raising, corporate and community partnerships and events from coffee mornings to marathons. Every fund-raiser is so valuable and plays a key part in helping us to make a difference.”
