Carl Vincent, the boss of a local drilling company, is challenging the community to fill a shipping container with toys which will then be distributed to local charities.

The director of Vincent Cameron Drilling Ltd, came up with the idea while working on the site, and ordered the huge container to be delivered to their site on Markland Street, Wigan.

He said: “I just don’t think it’s fair for any children to have a Christmas where they don’t receive any toys, so the prospect of filling a whole container full is exciting.

“Fingers crossed we can fill it in record time.”

Once the container is filled, Mr Vincent and 24 of his colleagues will deliver the toys in company vans to the local charities involved - Young Addiction Wigan and Leigh, Action for Children and the Wish FM Toy Appeal.

Anyone wanting to donate toys can do so by visiting the site between the hours of 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday at Unit 1 on Markland Street, WN1 3BT.

The charities have specified that any toys put in the container must be either new or in good condition.

For more details on how to donate, you can contact Mr Vincent on 0754 155 3837.
