Charity wiz Macey to fly the UK flag

A Wigan youngster who has raised thousands for charity is to represent her country in a global beauty and charity pageant.

Macey Dandy, of Platt Bridge, was crowned Crown and Glory Miss England in the junior section and will now compete in Face of the World in Disneyland Paris next month.

Her mum Julie said: “Macey raised the second amount of money for Crown and Glory’s chosen charity - Dean Puplett’s Journey, with a total of £1,355.

“The girl who raised the most won the UK title.

“I am so proud of Macey.

“She will help anybody and everybody.

“She has a heart of gold.

“She will now go to Disneyland Paris on May 27 to compete in Face of the World where she will compete with other girls from various other pageants from across the world.

“There will be hundreds of girls there, so this is a really big pageant.

“As part of her challenges she has to do a catwalk round and so on and raise money for the Headway charity.

“We fully support Macey as she goes to Disneyland - a percentage of the cost to get there and stay is covered, but we still need to find more money, so we are looking for a business to sponsor her.

“I will have to pay for myself, her dad, David, her younger sister, Millie and older brother, Max.

“She truly deserves this: she has done enough for everybody so it is time for her to have fun.”

Eight-year-old Macey said: “I am really pleased.

“I am excited about going to Disneyland and representing my country.

“I enjoy doing pageants because I like fund raising and helping other little children.

“I want to thank Warrington-born Caitlin Holmes, who won Face of the World 2015.

“She helped me practise my walks.

“I could not have done it without her help.”

The Platt Bridge Primary School pupil has competed in several pageants over the last few years.

She was recently also honoured with the title of Miss Community at the Miss Wigan competition for her fund-raising efforts for Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

As a result, she was invited to the official launch of the new cancer unit and sensory garden at Wigan Infirmary.
