A CONVICTED Wigan paedophile has been caged indefinitely for raping an 11-year-old boy in a shopping centre toilet.
Vile pensioner John Ferrier was already serving a 16-year sentence for sexually abusing and raping a young girl when a jury found him guilty of yet another heinous sex crime on Friday.
The 69-year-old from Ormskirk Road, Pemberton, was given a life sentence for his latest crimes and will serve at least eight years before he is elligible for parole.
Police today thanked the victim and his family - who cannot be named for legal reasons - for their bravery in helping bring Ferrier to justice.
Ferrier was found guilty of rape at Manchester Crown Court after a four-day trial, having previously pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article.
The attack took place on Thursday October 18 2013 when Ferrier approached the 11-year-old boy in the lavatories at Manchester Arndale.
Ferrier asked him to go into a cubicle to which the boy refused. He then dragged him into the cubicle and raped him.
The victim fled the toilets and told someone outside what had happened before telling a security guard.
