DETECTIVES are hunting a man they believe is behind three armed robberies in Wigan.

The Weekender off-licence on Chapel Street, Leigh. was the first to be hit on November 3 at about 5.30pm, when it is believed that the robber brandished a claw knife which he raised to threaten the two female members of staff and a customer. After fleeing with money he may have also barged into a member of public.

The second happened at about 6.45pm on November 5 at Cost Less on Wigan Road, Leigh. He approached the till area, took a hammer from a drawstring back and demanded cash. The two members of staff handed over some cash. He then said to them “I’ll see you tomorrow” before walking out.

The third was about 7.05pm on November 6, at The Costcutter Store on Bolton Road, Atherton, again with the claw hammer. The offender is described as white, between 5ft 8in and 5ft 10in, of a slim to medium build and wearing a dark hooded top.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
