A COMEDIAN has organised a free Christmas party for children as a way of paying back the community for its support.

Carl Lawrence has secured Newtown Working Mens club for Christmas Eve and the 150 places available have already been snapped up with youngsters meeting Santa and receiving presents for absolutely free.

“I want to make it as magical as possible,” said the 30-year-old.

“All year round I mither people to come to come to gigs so I felt we should give something back.

“If you want support from the community you have to give it as well so I said we’d put on a free Christmas party for the local children.

“My aim was that every child would get to visit Santa and receive a free selection box and child’s gift.

“They’ll also have candy floss venders and popcorn makers giving out stuff for free as well as sweets from Penny’s sweets.

“The 150 tickets were lottery drawn and I’ve got another 100 on a waiting list. So far I’ve had Newtown Working Mens club donate £100, a guy who wants to remain anonymous who has given £100, Kays Dairy have given me £50, Pemberton Taxis have given me £30 and then I’ve had Stateside Foods at Westhoughton give me 150 selection boxes.

Carl now needs help raising the last bit of money to pay for presents. Anyone interested should call 07885578811 or email wigancomic@hotmail.com
