Anti-crime roadshow on move

NEIGHBOURHOOD policing teams across Wigan borough are going on the road again in a bid to find out communities’ top issues.

The Have Your Say initiative is spearheaded by an exhibition van to be used at open days, local shows, community events and venues such as town centres and supermarkets.

Shoppers and residents are encouraged to chat to local officers, receive crime prevention advice or fill in a feedback card.

Police are keen for people to complete the feedback cards as their comments will affect the areas that neighbourhood officers focus on. Any contact details provided can also be used to further engage with communities and keep residents informed of police activity in their area.

The trailer will next be at the Robin Retail Park all day on Wednesday, December 15.

Supt Bob Lomas of Wigan Police said: “The Have Your Say vehicles are an excellent way for NPTs to raise their profile in local communities and to make people aware of crime reduction initiatives and advice.

“Officers can also gather intelligence, give out information on upcoming surgeries and tell visitors about the GMP website and the various ways of contacting them. We really want people to come over and speak to us whenever they see the van or trailer, as initiatives like this can only strengthen our bond with local communities.”
