AFTER filling in an online application for a modelling competition Michelle Ashurst forgot about it.

So when she found out a few weeks later that she was through to the national finals of Miss she was absolutely stunned.

Now she is in with the chance of winning a TV and modelling contract for a year - if she can impress the judges at the final this weekend.

She said: “The application form just popped up when I was on the internet and I’d always fancied entering a competition like that so I just decided to go for it.

“Part of me thought that nothing would come of it and so I just carried on as normal, so when that letter came through the post to say I’d made the final six I was absolutely ecstatic.”

Michelle, from Newtown, had never entered any competitions like this before but had always fancied doing so and, as she admits, she loves being the centre of attention.

She said: “As my friends and family will tell you I love having my photo taken on a night out and always take my camera out with me.

“So they know that a competition like this will reflect that side of my personality.”

The final will be held at the De Vere Hotel in Warrington on Sunday and if she wins Michelle, who has been sponsored by Pemberton Dental Practice, will get a TV and modelling contract for a year.

On the evening of the final the women will have to take part in two catwalk parades and will be judged overall on their personality as well as their looks.

She said: “I am nervous about the final because I’ve never done anything like this before and don’t have any experience of modelling.

“But it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and will be a fantastic experience to be part of, so I’m looking forward to it as well.”

The Miss Modelsearchuk.TV 2011 competition is being organised by Model Search UK, and is also aimed at supporting the women’s charity, Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

To date, Model Search UK has raised more than £21,000 for the charity.
