The McDonald’s restaurant in Marus Bridge Retail Park is closed now while workers undertake a “digital transformation” of the busy restaurant which will offer customers more options on how they order.

Construction workers have arrived in the car park and can be seen carrying out the refurbishment on the main building and drive-thru areas.

When it re-opens next month, the restaurant will offer the new click and collect service. Craig Renilson, who owns and operates the Marus Bridge Retail Park restaurant as well as five others, says of the planned changes: “I would like to thank our local customers for bearing with us while the transformation is taking place.”

The eatery was built at the retail park in the 1990s and its constituent parts famously came on the back of a lorry and was so quickly assembled that it was open for business within days.
