First Wigan choir festival is right on song

The first Wigan choir festival to be held in decades has been declared a huge success - and organisers are already planning another one.

The event was hosted by Clowes Methodist Church, Enfield Street, Pemberton, and the £500 raised will go to the Mayor of Wigan’s charity, Derian House Children’s Hospice in Chorley.

Each performed four pieces of their own choice and received a diploma of participation signed by the Mayor, Coun Susan Greensmith.

Afterwards co-organiser Jean Denny said: “The Mayor, choirs and all who attended the choir festival had an entertaining night of music.

“Big thanks to everyone. We will do it again next year.”
