All parents think their children are, well, just gorgeous.
But a Standish mum found out this week her delightful daughter REALLY is...
Poppy McCormick, two, has been named ‘Little Miss Photogenic’ for the most camera friendly child in Wigan in a competition organised by Leoni Pemberton, the current Miss Wigan Beauty 2017.
Her parents, Kate and Andy, who is a police officer, said that they were "surprised but delighted" that Poppy had managed to charm the judges.
Particularly as she wowed the panel in a pair of pin striped dungarees as part of a new range of toddler clothing designed and produced by talented seamstress Kate and her friend, Leena Baldwin, manufactured from her home each evening for their company ‘Sew Lovely and Handmade.’
Kate, a textile and design technology teacher at the Deanery, said: "It was a competition I entered where you had to initially send a photo in.
"I didn’t really think too much about it at the time and didn’t think Poppy stood much of a chance, because there were apparently hundreds of children entered, some older and some younger.
"But then we got a letter to say that she had won, it was a lovely surprise.
"Leena, took the picture at my mum and dad’s house in Collingwood Street, which was a really good one.
"And the fact that Poppy was modelling the clothes that we have made for her as part of our new business makes it all the more satisfying."
Poppy will now go through to the Grand Final and a chance to also be named Little Miss Wigan. And she is looking forward to doing "appearances" - including her first at the Little Owls open-day in nearby Bradley Lane.
Kate said: "She will be doing the rounds of Christmas events and pageants, or fund raising and charity events - it is going to be very exciting for her because she loves meeting people."
