A PASSENGER involved in a Wigan road collision which left a driver with serious head injuries has thanked kind-hearted passers-by.
Fire crews were called to Bolton Road between Ashton and Bamfurlong on Tuesday morning after a car had smashed into a brick wall at about 6am.
I remember his head hitting mine and he looked lifeless. I feel lucky I have come away with minor injuries
The driver of the vehicle is still thought to be in hospital receiving treatment having been described as being “in and out of consciousness” at the scene.
Speaking to wigantoday.net, the passenger, who asked not to be named, said residents first on the scene had helped the pair until emergency services arrived.
He said: “I would like to thank those people who helped us. We were not going fast at all. People have seen (the story) and think they know what happened.”
Adding there may have been a fault with the car as it had “veered off” previously on their journey.
He said: “I’m not sure if it was the conditions or because of the car itself. I remember his head hitting mine and he looked lifeless. I feel lucky I have come away with minor injuries.”
