A CRASH on a Wigan stretch of the M6 resulted in mammoth rush hour traffic queues this morning.
Delays lasted for more than one hour between junction 27 at Standish and junction 26 at the Orrell interchange.
Two cars collided on the southbound carriageway at around 8.15am forcing one of them, a grey Mini Cooper, to overturn.
One man was taken to hospital with the injuries he sustained and his condition remains unknown.
Two lanes were shut off for more than an hour as emergency services attended the scene.
Tailbacks were said to stretch for miles during the busy period which hit commuters hard.
The two lanes were eventually re-opened shortly before 10am.
