FIREFIGHTERS saved a baby’s life after he stopped breathing.
His distraught mother realised that her three week old son was having breathing difficulties while she was driving her family through the town on Saturday morning.
Showing admirable quick-thinking, she pulled her car into the forecourt of Leigh Fire Station on St Helens Road for help.
The crew, who were training in the yard, provided first aid and the baby started breathing again.
The baby taken to hospital immediately afterwards by ambulance for check-ups.
Watch manager Matt Keogh said: “They did a great job and were very professional.
“The woman was passing the fire station and pulled in, hoping we could help her.
“She was obviously upset as was her daughter who was with her.
“The crew grabbed a first aid kit, took the baby into the engine house and helped to get him reacting again.”
