Police have released a man without charge after the death of a woman in Garswood.

And police say they are now not treating the death as suspicious.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "A 31-year-old man from Ashton-in-Makerfield arrested on Tuesday, 3 March following the death of a woman at a house on Birch Grove has been released without charge.

"An investigation remains ongoing and the death is currently being treated as unexplained, although it is not believed to be suspicious.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 quoting reference 20000135642 or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111."

Emergency services were called to a house on Birch Grove just before 2.15am yesterday where the 33-year-old woman was pronounced dead.

The woman has been formally identified and her next of kin informed.

Police carried out house to house enquiries and appealed for information
