Banned Wigan driver in court after running away from police
A banned driver who fled from police in handcuffs has been given a suspended prison sentence.
John Fishwick, 36, was spotted driving a Honda Civic around Worsley Hall on August 31, but failed to stop for the police.
After being put in a police van, he managed to remove one of his hands from the handcuffs.
The two officers transporting him stopped the van and opened the door, and Fishwick jumped out, pushing the officers and knocking one of them to the ground.
He ran away, but was caught a few hours later with the handcuffs damaged but still on one of his wrists.
Fishwick appeared at Bolton Crown Court to be sentenced for driving while disqualified, escaping lawful custody, two police assaults and criminal damage.
He was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to pay £400 compensation.
