A police spokesperson told The Sun newspaper: “Police were called shortly before 6pm to HMP Hindley on Saturday 1 December 2018, to reports that suspicious items were found in a cell.

“Specialist police officers attended and deemed the items were not suspicious.”

It was reported a list of names, suspected to be targets, was found.

In the end specialist anti-terrorism officers decided the objects did not represent a threat.

A man was moved to a separation unit at the prison.
