Paul Peers was attending a friend’s funeral at Howe Bridge Crematorium, in Lovers Lane, Atherton, on Wednesday morning, when the thugs struck.

Offenders rifled through his car and smashed the window of another vehicle in the crematorium car park.

They then left with a bag, phone and purse.

In a post on Facebook, Mr Peers appealed for people who had any information to come forward.

He said: "Just in case anyone anyone wants to get these lowlife scum done please contact me, surely someone has a conscience. I don't think you can get much lower than this."

A police spokesman said: "Police were called at around 11.40am on Wednesday, May 20, to reports of a theft from a car at a cemetery on Lovers Lane in the Atherton area of Wigan.

"Enquiries have established that a car window was smashed as the offender stole a mobile phone from the glove box.

"No arrests have been made and anyone with information is encouraged to contact police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
