Officers remained on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, near Lockwood Place in Poolstock, on Monday morning and crime scene tape prevented people walking or cycling along the towpath.

It follows the death of 18-year-old Samson Price, who was found in the water at nearby Scotman's Flash on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were called just before 2pm on Sunday amid concerns for the welfare of a man and a body was found.

Police say they are keeping an open mind as the circumstances surrounding his death are established.

Tributes have been paid to Samson online and thousands of pounds have already been donated to an appeal to help pay for his funeral.
