An investigation is underway after a car was torched behind houses in Wigan.
Crews from Wigan fire station were alerted at around 4.45am today to reports that a Fiat Punto was well ablaze in Standish Lower Ground.
Firefighters managed to contain the blaze which had engulfed the vehicle, which was parked close to homes off Wigan Lower Road.
A spokesman for Wigan fire station said it was believed that the car had been set alight deliberately.
The vehicle was left badly damaged by the incident. Firefighters were at the scene for around an hour.
