Chorley man accused of sexual offences against teenage boy

Proceedings against a man accused of grooming a teenage boy have been adjourned after defence lawyers described he had made a serious attempt to take his own life that has left him with serious medical issues.

Kieran Patrick Mooney, 27, of Vicarage Crescent, Coppull, Chorley, is accused of meeting a 15-year-old boy in Wigan between March and July last year following grooming, intending to commit an offence against him, inciting a boy into sexual activity in Coppull, and engaging in sexual communication with a child, relating to alleged Instagram messages that were allegedly sexual in nature.

Defending, Mark Stephenson said: "He is in a very unstable mental state. He is back at home but he is due to have a number of procedures to consider what damage has been done."
