Crown court date set for man charged following the stabbing of two women in Wigan

Michael Marsh, of the Mercure Hotel, will face a judge next month after appearing at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Marsh, 44, has been charged with two counts of section 18 assault and possessing an offensive weapon.

The magistrates remanded him in custody and he will now stay behind bars until his appearance at Bolton Crown Court on June 15.

Police were called at 5.40pm on Thursday May 14 to reports of a woman being stabbed on Wigan Lane in Swinley.

Officers attended and a 32-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Further enquiries established a second woman, aged 48, had also received minor stab wounds in a related incident.
