Paul Grime had been charged with three counts of raping a six-year-old and one of assaulting her by penetration, between July 5 2016 and July 4 2017. The 27-year-old, of Everest Road in Atherton, also faced a charge of raping a five-year-old girl during the same time period. But after a seven-day trial at Bolton Crown Court, Grime was found not guilty of the rape offences. However, the jury returned guilty verdicts to alternative charges of sexually assault.

He has now been told that he will be sentenced on February 19.
