Fly-tippers have sparked off an arson attack in Wigan.

Rubbish has been dumped again on land off Westwood Lane.

And the pile has been set alight by arsonists, prompting firefighters from Wigan station to be called out at around 9.50pm last night.

A firefighters spokesman said: "We would like to make an appeal for people to stop fly-tipping in the area.

"And we would also urge residents leaving nearby to remain vigilant and alert us if there are any problems."
