Honesty box at Wigan farm removed after vandalism

Standish Hall Farms has had to stop offering oil in a box on its entrance track after it was smashed.

A photograph shared on the social media showed the shocking mess the vandals made of the box and the bottles of cold pressed oil in it which were available for sale to passers-by.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are understood to have visited the scene.

A post on the Standish Community Watch Facebook page said: "A sad and mindless act of vandalism has forced Standish Hall Farms to remove the Honesty Box of Yallo Cold Pressed Oil from the farm track.

"It’s sickening that during these very difficult times for everyone someone should carry out such an act. We would have much rather the oil been taken and not paid for if someone felt the need but to simply smash the contents of the box is very sad.

"We genuinely feel sorry for them and we would like to thank all of the local community that have given us support beforehand, the incident has been reported to the police and they have taken fingerprints from the broken bottles."

The post appeared on the Facebook page on Monday afternoon.
