Murphy appeared before Wigan and Leigh magistrates to plead guilty to two counts of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

Justices sent him to Bolton Crown Court for sentencing and remanded him in custody pending that appearance on November 12, the reasons cited being the nature and seriousness of the crime and the fact that Murphy has mental health issues causing extreme reactions to situations.
