A man has appeared before Wigan and Leigh magistrates accused of having a stash of vile child pornography.

Joshua Merritt, 25, of Balmoral Drive, Leigh, has yet to plead to three charges of having 157 indecent images of children which fall into the severest category (A), 243 category B images and 437 category C.
The bench sent the case to be heard by a Bolton Crown Court judge, before whom Merritt was bailed to make his first appearance on January 20.
