Man arrested after police find drugs and bat in car

Cannabis and a baseball bat were among the items seized by police when they stopped a car while on patrol.

Officers decided to stop the vehicle when they saw it "acting suspiciously" on Maple Crescent in Leigh.

A spokesman said: "On stopping the vehicle officers have spotted the bat and noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from within the car. The two occupants and the car were searched and the items pictured were recovered.

"One male was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon, possession with intent to supply cannabis, no licence and no insurance. He is currently under investigation as enquiries are on-going."
