Murder squad detectives have released a second man bail after quizzing him on suspicion of the murder of Billy Livesley.

The 22-year-old was arrested yesterday by officers investigating the death of the Platt Bridge dad-to-be and released on bail this evening.

Billy, 21, suffered an horrific head injury in an attack on a car park on Bickershaw Lane, Abram, on the evening of December 28.

He was rushed to hospital, but lost his battle for life the following day. Several arrests have subsequently been made in connection with the tragedy.

Peter Connor, 31, of no fixed address, this week appeared before a Manchester judge accused of Billy’s murder and was remanded in custody until a hearing on February 4 and a provisional trial date was set for June 24.

A 57-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit attempted murder has been released under investigation.
