Man imprisoned for assault on Wigan paramedic
A thug who attacked a Wigan paramedic and broke his glasses has been jailed.
Neil Masters, whose address was giving as the Housing Options centre for the homeless in Platt Bridge, pleaded guilty to hitting ambulanceman Derek Rowlands on September 16.
Wigan magistrates gave him a 16-week prison term for the assault and another fortnight for smashing the victim’s spectacles. He was also ordered to pay Mr Rowlands £70 to pay for his damaged property and £180 in compensation for his injury.
Explaining why they had imprisoned him, the bench said: “Offence so serious because of a deliberate attack on a public servant carrying out public duties and the offence was aggravated by the defendant’s record of previous offending.
