Andrew Wadsworth is due this week to appear in the dock at Manchester Crown Court accused of the brutal slaying of 32-year-old beautician Melissa Belshaw at the home she shared with her 13-year-old daughter in Up Holland Road, Billinge, on May 20 this year.

The 36-year-old of Cranfield Road, Hawkley Hall, has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges of attempted murder and issuing threats to kill.

A post-mortem examination later concluded that Ms Belshaw, who was pronounced dead at the scene, died from multiple stab wounds.

Only days before her death she had taken to social media talking of her excitement at opening a Wigan town centre beauty salon.
