Out-of-control car ploughs into the front of a Wigan shop

Three people were arrested after a car ploughed into the front of a Wigan shop.

The Ford Mondeo was buried in the shuttered frontage of premises in Pickup Street, Ince, on Thursday evening.

Police reported that the driver had lost control of the vehicle when it rounded a bend.

The occupants of the vehicle were seen to flee the scene.

But GMP Traffic reported that three people had since been detained on suspicion of driving without insurance and a licence and also driving while under the influence of drugs.

No-one was reported to have been injured.

An officer joked on Twitter: "The driver of the Mondeo was a little too excited to get his KFC and lost control when he turned into Pickup St."
