Police investigating gun damage to car in Wigan

A police probe is under way after a car was found with gunshot damage on a Wigan estate.

A large cordon was put in place for several hours in Marsh Green on Saturday afternoon while officers, including an armed response team, investigated the concerning incident.

Other news: Three arrested following Wigan street brawlGreater Manchester Police (GMP) were called to Kitt Green Road shortly after 1pm and found a car with damage consistent with a firearm being used.

This is believed to have happened at around midnight.

No one was injured.

Police immediately closed Kitt Green Road in both directions with all traffic being diverted away from the scene.

The damage to the car was assessed by specialist armed officers.

Enquiries are now ongoing and anyone with information about this is urged to call police on the non-emergency number 101.
