Magistrates have banned visitors from a second property connected to a Wigan family following a litany of anti-social behaviour.

Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court issued the three-month closure order for the address on Anson Place in Marsh Green tenanted by Linda Liptrot on Wednesday.

The court heard neighbours and police had raised concerns about possible drug dealing and use at the property, noise nuisance, excessive numbers of people dropping in both day and night and incidents of disorder in the street.

Liptrot did not object to the closure order.

The case was originally due to be heard a fortnight ago but was adjourned for further legal discussion.

On that earlier occasion the town hall succcessfully applied for a closure order at the address on Kitt Green Road tenanted by Liptrot’s daughter Danielle and her partner due to drug dealing taking place there and the property becoming a haven for members of the criminal fraternity.

The court was told that when the local authority moved to bring a stop to the nuisance behaviour at that property many of the individuals barred from

Danielle Liptrot’s house moved over to Anson Place where her mother lived instead.

Only Liptrot and a small list of other people, including council workers and members of the emergency services, will now be allowed inside the Anson

Place house until 4pm on September 12.

Other visitors will face arrest and court action.

After the hearing a Wigan Council spokesperson said: “We welcome the magistrates’ decision to put this closure order in place at an address in Marsh Green.

“We know that any form of anti-social behaviour can have a disruptive effect on communities and we do our best to resolve issues where we can.

“Our anti-social behaviour team will work closely with the community to safeguard them and prevent the behaviour occurring again.

“Any form of anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and action can and will be taken against those who continue to cause disruption for other residents.”

The council also got an injunction and power of arrest against both Linda and Shane Liptrot on the same day in the county court.
